TOP 5 MACRO-FRIENDLY FINDS
While we all know that a majority of our nutrition should come from whole, unprocessed foods, life is busy and sometimes we need some options for when things get crazy and we're on the go. These products have been total lifesavers when it comes to packing for a short vacation, road trip, or even just a busy day out. They are macro-friendly, meaning geared towards helping you stick to your macro goals by being higher in protein or providing more volume for fewer macros.
1 — Laughing Cow Cheese
2P | 1.5F | 1C per slice
A Laughing Cow cheese on a rice cake with a piece of turkey is my all time go-to snack. These are an easy grab and go option and come in many different flavors. Use on: sandwiches or burgers, with veggies or pretzels, on chicken or turkey, or in an egg white scramble. You can find these at almost any grocery store or you can order online here.
2 — Joseph's Bakery Lavash Bread
12P | 3F | 16C per whole lavash
Joseph's whole Heart Healthy Flax product line is full of great macro finds, but my personal favorite is the Lavash. A whole wrap is 2 servings, but only 16C for a gigantic wrap is absolutely incredible. I make a wrap with turkey, veggies, and Laughing Cow cheese as my go-to lunch for long days on-the-go and it keeps me full for hours. (Plus, check out that fiber!). You can generally find Joseph's Bakery products at Walmart or can order online here. If you like the Lavash, also give the pitas or the flatbread a try.
3 — Crystal Light Energy
Getting enough water in each day can be tough. This stuff is a lifesaver when I am really struggling to get my water in! One packet + 32 oz water = a delicious alternative to pre-workout, a great afternoon pick-me-up, or just the yummiest way to hit your hydration goals. Also try: True Lemon, Mio, or Dasani drops for other options. You can find these at almost any grocery store or you can order online here.
4 — Better Oats Oatmeal
3P | 2F | 18C per packet
A necessity for any type of travel. These oatmeal packets are individually packaged and the package itself can be used to measure out water. They are a quick and easy pre- or post- workout meal and are great for travel. Bring some of these packets along with you to a hotel breakfast for an easy low-carb breakfast option, or mix in egg whites or PB powder to add a little extra protein for a great pre- or post- workout meal. You can find these at almost any grocery store or you can order online here.
5 — Carbmaster Yogurt & Cottage Cheese
Yogurt: 9P | 1.5F | 5C
Cottage Cheese: 15P | 2.5F | 8C
Kroger offers a whole line of Carbmaster dairy products, all of which are fantastic options for anyone who is looking for low carb snacks. They're incredibly affordable (10 for $4) and come in a ton of different flavors. The Carbmaster cottage cheese is a newer product and comes in limited flavors, but is a great way to get a little more protein in.
