NUTRITION Q&A: FAT LOSS PLATEAUS, DIET MYTHS, INTERMITTENT FASTING, SPOT TRAINING, AND MORE
I had an overwhelming response to my call for your nutrition questions, so here are some of those great questions answered in part 1 of this Q&A series. Nutrition can be confusing and overwhelming, and I hope some of these responses help clear up some questions you’ve been wondering about as well!
OUR FAVORITE MACRO-FRIENDLY RECIPE: BUFFALO CHICKEN BAKE
This recipe is one of our most popular, so we’re sharing it again in case you missed it the first time around. Whether you’re tracking macros or not, this recipe is a crowd-pleaser for it’s awesome flavor and generous portion size. It’s easy to throw together and is a healthy meal for the whole family.
NAVIGATING BAD BODY IMAGE DAYS: WHY THEY HAPPEN AND WHAT TO DO
Despite the body confidence we might have, we're bound to have days where we pick ourselves apart - where we feel insecure, believe we're "feeling fat" or "bloated," or we don't feel comfortable. Generally, I find it's easy to blame our bodies for those feelings when so many other aspects might actually be at play.
MACRO-FRIENDLY RECIPE: CREAMY CHICKEN TORTILLA SOUP
Even though you may be on your way to tackling your goals and your New Year’s resolutions of improving your eating habits, that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice flavor - and it certainly doesn’t mean that you have to give up hearty meals altogether. This recipe is one of our favorites! It’s an easy dump-into-the-crockpot, set it and forget it kind of meals, and it’s perfect for colder weather. We hope you enjoy it!
MEAL PLANS DON’T WORK, AND HERE’S WHY…
Here at KLN, we don’t do meal plans. A meal plan doesn’t give you an alternative when it’s girls night, when you’re out for drinks after work, or when you’re on the road with your family. Most of all, a meal plan doesn’t take into account that life is chaotic and constantly changing.
CREATING HABITS THAT STICK: A BOTTOM UP APPROACH TO ACTUALLY ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS THIS NEW YEAR
Setting big goals for the New Year can feel a little bit daunting - the renewed energy of heading into a fresh year only lasts so long and oftentimes we ditch those big goals a few months into the year. It doesn’t mean that you don’t want the goals you set out to accomplish; rather, it probably means that your approach is setting you up to fail from the start. In today’s post, we’re sharing ideas for approaching your goals differently this year to ensure success and get you where you want to go this New Year.
MACRO-FRIENDLY RECIPE: SWEET POTATO TURKEY CHILI
My favorite part about fall weather is all the soup! Soup dinners are easy for a lazy chef like me and are my favorite way to prep food that will last throughout the week. This chunky sweet potato turkey chili is my favorite, because each serving is a generous size and packs in tons of lean protein and vegetables.
CREATING A WINTER ACTION PLAN: SHIFTING NUTRITION, FITNESS, AND HEALTH APPROACH WITH THE SEASON
Saying goodbye to the longer, sunnier days can cause many of us a bit of seasonal gloom. So what do we do? I take this as an annual opportunity to really dig into my best self care practices. We can’t change the seasons, but we can lean into the things that we know will help us feel our best during these months when we’ll be missing out on a bit of sunlight each day. Enter: The Winter Action Plan.
MACRO-FRIENDLY ONE-PAN RECIPE: SWEET HARVEST HASH FOR WEEKLY MEAL PREP
How do you make an easy sheet-pan meal even better? You make it macro-friendly with seasonal squash and flavorful protein. Enjoy this simple sheet pan meal and learn how to switch up the ingredients to fit your specific nutrition goals.
WHY A MAINTENANCE PHASE IS ESSENTIAL TO LONG TERM FAT LOSS PROGRESS
When considering fat loss, the number one thing we talk about is energy balance. In order to lose fat, it’s necessary to eat a calorie deficit (eating less calories than you expend). However, our bodies aren’t made to exist in a calorie deficit forever.
5 MACRO FRIENDLY SWEET TREATS
If you’re anything like me, you have a pretty strong sweet tooth and dinner doesn’t feel complete without capping it off with a nice little sweet treat. Here are a few of our favorite go-to macro-friendly treats and desserts. Some can be thrown together in a few minutes at home, others are ready to eat right away; some are great for an evening dessert, and others make great sweet midday snacks. Enjoy!
A DAY OF EATS FROM THE NUTRITION COACHES
We’ve loved sharing a glimpse of what nutrition for our coaches looks like in the past. As our KLN team has expanded, we wanted to again share the diversity (and similarities) in our approach as we all juggle busy schedules, responsibilities, personal goals, and our love of good food.
RECIPE: JUMBO BAKED OATMEAL MUFFINS
Instead of a casserole bake, you can use the same Baked Oatmeal recipe to make baked oatmeal muffins instead. The muffins are convenient because they’re already portioned for you and make for an easy grab and go meal or snack for the whole family.
THE PERFECT FALL RECIPE: BAKED OATMEAL
This baked oatmeal is such a hearty and delicious way to start the day, especially with the crisp and cool mornings that are ahead. Unlike regular oatmeal, which has a porridge-like consistency, baked oatmeal is more like that of bread-pudding. It’s really easy to customize and it’s a great make-ahead recipe to add to your weekly rotation.
HOW SLEEP AND STRESS IMPACT FAT LOSS
Elevated stress levels and lack of adequate sleep can mess with the regulation of hormones that impact hunger levels and fat loss rate, and can also lead to mood problems that impact decision-making skills. This can create a one-two punch that makes fat loss much, much harder than it needs to be.

We’re sharing a few of our favorites options that can help you still hit your macros while eating out - whether you’re on the road traveling or just need a quick bite while navigating your busy day.
